Jerrod has extensive professional experience with children and youth and has honed his entrepreneurial skills and business acumen in the corporate sector.
Jerrod spent over 20 summers at camp, and considers those summers to be many of the best of his life.
Jerrod's formative years were spent growing and eventually working in child and youth programs at the Winnipeg Jewish Community Centre and at BB Camp Kenora. Jerrod has earned Honours Degrees in Outdoor Recreation and Social Work and specializes in Youth Development, Outdoor Education, Wilderness Adventure Therapy and Experiential Based Training and Development.
Jerrod has over 20 years of experience working with children and teens in residential camps, community, education, treatment and corrections setting.

Camp Chef Anthony Davis
Anthony (Tony) Davis is our Camp Chef. Tony has spent his first summer in our kitchen as Assistant Cook and this is his second summer as our Head Cook. Tony has a long history with camp, before joining the kitchen team he was the Discovery Specialist for 2009 and 2010. He is becoming a Journeyman Chef after graduating with a Diploma in Professional Cooking from SAIT Polytechnic.
Chef Tony knows what campers and staff members want and need from the kitchen to remain healthy. We at Camp BB Riback have been working on a new camp menu, building on traditional favorites and adding in some new surprises. Anthony has spent 12 consecutive summers at Camp BB Riback.

Altitude Supervisor Emily Wolff
Emily Wolff is this year’s Altitude Supervisor; she looks after all the components contained at Altitude which include the high and low Ropes Course, the Climbing Wall and the Zip Line. Emily ensures that everything is in top condition and helps make sure the campers have the most fun they can have out at Altitude. Emily has recently taken a Ropes Course Practitioner Level 1, she has her Wilderness Remote Responder as well as Standard First Aid.
To revamp the Altitude rotations the Altitude staff members are planning on bringing back some of the old games that used to be played at Altitude as well as expand on the low ropes course. Emily has been attending Camp Chief Hector since the age of 7 but has been attending Camp BB Riback at Altitude for 2 years.
Aquatics Supervisor Chaim Katz
Chaim Katz is this year’s Aquatics Supervisor; he oversees all of the components comprised in the aquatics rotations which include Pool, Canoe and Waterfront. Chaim will work alongside Keenan Groberman the Waterfront Coordinator as well as with each rotational specialist to ensure that each rotation is running well and programming is informative, based on improving skill and mostly having fun. Chaim has previously been pool specialist, canoe specialist and an aquatics specialist. Chaim has a lot of experience with aquatics including his National Lifeguard Service (NLS), his boating license and his scuba diving license.
To revamp the aquatics rotations the aquatics staff are planning on bringing in some new additions to each rotation by adding in “learn-to” programs based on ensuring each camper gets to experience each rotation to its fullest potential. Chaim Katz has been attending Camp BB Riback for 3 years as a camper and 3 years as a staff member.

Canoe Specialist Jesse McGugan
Jesse McGugan is this year’s Canoe Specialist. Jesse sees his job as a specialist as being involved as a supervisor of the canoe rotation and the patrons involved in it its use. His job includes active leadership to improve campers’ and staffs’ camp experience at the canoe rotation as well as their safety. Jesse recently took the Paddle Canada & Paddle Alberta Waterfront Canoe Instructor Course in Edmonton to help deliver even more fun activities, skill development and industry practices to our canoe program.
To revamp the Canoe rotation Jesse wants each camper to leave canoe with new skills and a new knowledge regarding canoes and canoeing every time they attend waterfront and make the rotation a more fun, educational and interesting experience. Jesse has attended Camp BB Riback for 2 years now but previously attended B’nai B’rith Camp Kenora for 6 years.
Ski/Board Specialist Kyra Morris
Kyra Morris is the Ski/Board Specialist for the upcoming summer, spearheading the enhanced Learn-To-Ski/Board Program which entails numerous different lake activities such as water skiing, wakeboarding and knee boarding. The new program will give each camper the chance to learn how to get up and gain the full experience on the water. Kyra currently has her National Lifeguard Service (NLS), her boating licence, and has taken a Rip N’ Ride Foundations Workshop through Water Ski & Wakeboard British Columbia http://www.wswbc.org/programs/rip-n-ride.html.
To revamp the waterfront rotation Kyra is implementing an “on-land” training portion where campers will learn all of the safety signals, how to get up in the water, how to hold the rope and various safety measures. This will be Kyra’s first summer at Camp BB Riback however; she has spent 6 summers at Camp Hatikvah in BC as a camper.
Senior Performing Arts Specialist Arielle Permack
Arielle Permack is one of this year’s Performing Arts Specialists. Arielle sees the role of a Senior Performing Arts Specialist of very high importance to the camp community. The campers spend the majority of their days at camp going to rotations ran by specialists. Specialists are there to provide the grunt work and the means for campers to participate in activities that they might not be able to experience anywhere else. She sees that her job is to help dig deep and experiment with each camper’s creative side through song, drama and acting. This is Arielle’s second year as a Performing Arts Specialist.
To revamp the Performing Arts rotation Arielle would like to replenish the “prop/costume” room to provide the campers with relevant and useful things to make their plays the best they can be. She would also like to ensure that each camper whether they enjoy the acting and singing aspect of theatre or not to have fun and be involved in each play/musical. This will make Performing Arts a more versatile rotation and one where all kids, no matter what will enjoy coming. Arielle has been attending Camp BB Riback for 14 years since 1999.
Performing Arts Specialist Pascal Lamothe-Kipnes
Pascal Lamothe-Kipnes is one of this year’s Performing Arts Specialists. She sees the specialist positions as being able to get everyone involved in the Performing Arts rotation and giving each child the chance to show their creative side and mentor them to excel in what they do. Performing Arts has always been Pascal’s favorite rotation and she has learnt a lot from each of the past musical specialists and sees it now as her turn to share her passions with the campers.
To revamp the rotation Pascal wants to make more activities at the rotation in order to keep every single person engaged. Pascal has attended Camp BB Riback for 8 years consecutively.

Sports & Recreation Specialist Matthew Ackman
Matthew Ackman is this year’s Sports and Recreation Specialist. In his opinion a sports and recreation specialist is someone who will do whatever it takes to ensure each camper will enjoy their time and be active at the sports rotation. Matthew enjoys each and every sport from hockey to basketball to tag to parachute games. Matthew will be spending most of his time at the sports and recreation while also spending a portion of his time at the bikes rotation. Last year Matthew was Bikes Specialist for his first year of staff.
To revamp the rotation Matthew wants to make sports and recreation a rotation that will bring campers experiences, new games and new skills that they can take home with them after the summer. Matthew has been attending Camp BB Riback since he was in first year Ruach, so this will be his 8th year at camp.
Bikes Specialist Jaxen Guy
Jaxen Guy is this year’s Bikes Specialist. In his opinion a Bikes Specialist is someone who has a great passion for ensuring that each camper is having fun and learning about how to improve and learn more biking skills. Jaxen enjoys being with kids and can work well with other staff members to ensure that each staff member and camper is having the utmost fun.
As a Bikes Specialist Jaxen wants to continue to develop a fully functioning level system from last year as well as think of awesome games and new trails he can use for Bikes rotation. This will be Jaxen’s eleventh summer at Camp BB Riback.
Discovery Specialist Josh Silver
Josh Silver is this year’s Discovery Specialist for the second year in a row. To Josh a Discovery Specialist is a teacher and a supervisor who allows camper to explore the area, find new things and focus on activities in a direct and safe manner. The specialist is there to direct the camper’s curiosity in order to allow them to have a great time at discovery and a great summer.
To revamp the rotation Josh would like to completely renew the discovery rotation through diversifying programming and building on old programs by focusing on tripping skills and learning about the environment around Camp BB. Josh wants to create a more interactive and organized atmosphere towards the discovery rotation. Josh has been attending Camp BB Riback for 8 years.
Brittany Sawyer Horse Specialist
Brittany Sawyer is this year’s Horse Specialist. To Brittany her job as the Horse Specialist is to be someone who is knowledgeable about horses and to be able to teach others how to safely and properly ride and control what a horse does. Brittany has grown up around horses. Brittany has never been a Camper at Camp BB Riback, but this will be her fourth year having worked at the horse’s rotation.
To revamp the horses rotation Brittany and Noah Steinberg have been working together to create better programming for the rotation as well as rainy-day activities. They have also created different levels and new skills to better improve the rotation as a whole and ensure each camper comes out with a better knowledge of horses.

Media Specialist Jennifer Freedman
Jennifer Freedman is this year’s Media Specialist. Jennifer sees her job to be an important member of the Camp BB community because it will allow campers parents to catch a glimpse into the lives of their children during camp as well as give campers a place to relive their favourite moments after camp finishes for the season. Jennifer is very focused on photography and media throughout the year and cannot wait to showcase her skills for Camp BB.
To revamp the Media position Jennifer is bringing back the Audio Visual/Media rotation to give campers an insight and have them gain an understanding of proper photography techniques and skills. These skills will be taught through games, scavenger hunts, and actual hands on techniques. Jennifer is also looking to revamp and bring forward the media aspect of Camp BB. She has attended Camp BB Riback for 7 years as a camper but this will be her first as a staff member.
